MARKET SIGNAL  /  METHODOLOGY

How Market Signal monitors public sources.

For Nigerian fintech teams, this page explains the public evidence behind Market Signal alerts and weekly briefs: what is mapped, how a change is reviewed, and where the initial fintech coverage has limits.

01 / WHAT WE WATCH

Public pages with an observable record.

The mapped catalogue initially focuses on public fintech company pages, product and pricing pages, regulator updates, and public announcements or market context found on the listed official and publication sources. Wider Nigerian sectors are outside the current Market Signal focus.

PAYMENT / LENDING / PRICING

Product and commercial pages

The catalogue names Flutterwave, Flutterwave pricing, Paystack pricing, FairMoney and Carbon among its documented payment, pricing and lending examples. Their public pages can provide evidence of a change; the catalogue does not imply that each page is active or available on every check.

ANNOUNCEMENTS / MARKET CONTEXT

Official records and publications

CBN, SEC Nigeria and the listed company pages are official public records. Nairametrics, BusinessDay Nigeria and TechCabal provide secondary business and technology context. They are mapped sources, not a separate announcement feed, and publication coverage does not verify a company outcome or market share.

02 / FROM SOURCE TO VERIFIED SIGNAL

A monitored change with a review trail.

The workflow keeps the source and the interpretation visible. It is designed to separate an observed public change from the buyer-facing update that follows review.

  1. STAGE 01

An active public source is fetched.

The operational workflow fetches active source records that point to public HTTP(S) pages and looks for relevant content changes. This page describes the mapped catalogue; it does not imply that every mapped source is active or checked at all times.

  2. STAGE 02

    Fetched content becomes snapshots.

The fetched content and its timestamp are retained. When content changes, a before snapshot and an after snapshot provide the comparison basis for what was observed.

  3. STAGE 03

    An observed change is reviewed.

The before-and-after evidence is assessed and reviewed. Only an approved change is eligible to become a buyer-facing update; an observed change is not presented as a verified signal by itself.

  4. STAGE 04

    Approved evidence reaches buyers.

A reviewed and approved change can surface as a buyer alert and as evidence in a weekly competitor brief for its complete UTC reporting week. Brief publication is a separate reviewed state.

03 / KNOWN MAPPED COVERAGE

The organisation's own public record.

These entries are the known mapped official regulator and company websites in the catalogue, grouped by its existing categories. Payment, lending and pricing examples are easy to locate here; the detailed map is also available on the coverage page.

04 / SECONDARY REPORTING

Context from independent publications.

Business and technology publications provide secondary market context. They are distinct from an organisation's own official source, and publication coverage does not verify a company or market outcome.

04 / INTERPRETATION & LIMITS

Read the signal in context.

The map is not exhaustive. A catalogue entry is known mapped coverage, not a statement that its operational record is active or currently being observed. URLs can change, sources can be unavailable, and a failed fetch can leave a gap.

Market Signal does not promise continuous checking, a fixed polling interval, or that every public announcement will be captured. Publication coverage adds context; it does not verify a company outcome or market share.

Observed activity or coverage is not verified market share.
